Who pays shipping on Vinted?
The buyer. On Vinted US, shipping is added to the buyer's total at checkout and you, the seller, get a prepaid label. Here's how it works and what it means for your profit.

How Vinted shipping works for sellers
- A buyer taps Buy now and picks a shipping option. Shipping and the Vinted fee are added to their total.
- You get a prepaid label (or QR code) in your inbox and by email.
- Pack the item, use that label, and drop it off or schedule a pickup within 5 business days.
- Once the order is completed, you receive the full item price. Vinted charges sellers no selling fee.
What the buyer actually pays: an example
Vinted's shipping prices vary by carrier, package and distance, so the exact amount only shows at checkout. For illustration, here is a $25 top in a 12 oz mailer, using the USPS Ground Advantage commercial price to zone 5 ($8.24) as a stand-in for the label:
- Item: $25.00
- Vinted fee (usually 5% + $0.70): $1.95
- Shipping (illustrative): $8.24
- Buyer pays about $35.19. You keep $25.00.
Compared with offering free shipping elsewhere
On eBay, Mercari, Depop and Whatnot you can choose to cover shipping yourself, and on Poshmark you can offer a shipping discount (we assume you cover the whole $6.49 label). Here's what a $40 item nets when you offer free shipping on those platforms; on Vinted the buyer normally pays the prepaid label (new sellers' first three sales ship free for the buyer):

Label estimate: $8.24 (USPS Ground Advantage, commercial, zone 5) for eBay, Depop and Whatnot; Mercari's own label: $7.39. Poshmark uses its flat $6.49 label. Vinted buyers normally pay the prepaid label.
Highest payout isn't the whole story. On Vinted the buyer pays $40.00 + a Vinted fee (~5% + $0.70 = $2.70) + shipping, so the same price costs your buyer more there, which can mean slower sales. Depop and Mercari buyers pay fees too; eBay, Poshmark and Whatnot list no buyer fee. Compare the “Buyer pays” column.

FAQ
Does the seller pay shipping on Vinted?
No, not when the buyer uses Buy now. The buyer pays shipping at checkout and Vinted sends you a prepaid label. You only pay shipping yourself if you use custom shipping instead of Vinted's label.
How much is shipping on Vinted?
It varies. Vinted says the price depends on the carrier, package size, distance and order value, and the buyer always sees it at checkout before paying. Orders to a Vinted Go shop with SpeedX ship free.
Is shipping free for my first sales on Vinted?
Yes. Vinted gives new sellers free shipping on their first three sales and new buyers free shipping on their first three purchases, applied automatically at checkout. You still get a prepaid label as usual.
Can I use my own label or a different carrier?
Not for a Buy now order with a prepaid label. Vinted says the prepaid label must be used; if a different label or shipping method is used, the order is cancelled automatically.
How long do I have to ship a Vinted order?
Five business days from the purchase. You can ask the buyer for an extension, and they can accept or decline.
What if the package is lost or damaged?
Contact Vinted. For USPS shipments within the US, Vinted says it may compensate up to $100. Keep proof of shipping until the order is completed.
